OSRS 2025 Roadmap: Upcoming Major Updates and Exciting New Content

Mar-03-2025 PST

Jagex has just unveiled its official roadmap for OSRS in 2025, and the upcoming updates look amazing. From thrilling new bosses to fresh skilling methods and a long-awaited expansion of the Slayer system, there is something for every type of player to look forward to. Today, we will review all of the upcoming updates, including my favorite: Varlamore Part 3.

Varlamore Part 3: The Endless Rage Boss - The Tube

Varlamore's next expansion will introduce The Tube, a new "endless rage" boss designed for risk-reward gameplay. Players will enter the battle, claim loot after defeating the boss, and then choose whether to leave with their earnings or fight an even harder version for greater rewards.

Each successive battle increases the difficulty in multiple ways:

Faster post-attack rates

• Smaller reaction windows

• Changing environmental hazards

• Additional damage effects

If you die, all loot earned so far will be lost, making this a high-risk, high-reward encounter. The final rewards have yet to be confirmed, but we expect some best-in-slot (BIS) Magic upgrades, including new capes and amulets. This update will be a game-changer for PvMers who enjoy intense, skill-based combat with significant rewards on the line.

Gemstone Grapple: AFK Combat Training

For players who prefer AFK training methods, Gemstone Grapple is an upcoming multi-zone combat encounter that allows you to train combat while staying mostly idle. This large, multi-player battle will be held in the rainforest, where players work together to take down a high-HP crab-like enemy. The top 16 damage dealers will receive MVP status and be rewarded with gems.

Unlike traditional crab training methods where players risk getting crashed, this new system encourages cooperative combat, making it a great option for AFK leveling.

Fletching Update: The Magical Forest of Auw

A brand-new Fletching training method will be introduced in the town of Auw, a mystical forest inhabited by magical ents. Players will craft totems, which attract ents that provide rewards and experience.

How It Works:

• Choose the best location in the forest to place your totems.

• Use higher-tier logs for longer-lasting totems and greater rewards.

• Create and offer bows, crossbow stocks, and shields to ents in exchange for Fletching XP and unique rewards.

• Totems work passively, meaning you can set them up and return later to collect offerings, similar to birdhouse runs.

Unique Rewards:

• Bow String Spool: Stores 270 bowstrings in a single inventory slot, allowing for 27 bows per inventory.

• Fletching Knife: Grants a 20% chance to reduce Fletching action time by 0.6 seconds, slightly increasing XP rates.

• Whittling Blade: Allows players to automatically fletch logs into arrow shafts while woodcutting.

This update provides a fantastic new way to train Fletching while also obtaining useful tools to make the process even more efficient.

New Slayer Dungeon and Melee Weapon

A new Slayer dungeon will be introduced, complete with fresh monsters and a powerful untradeable melee weapon. This slash weapon has damage and accuracy similar to a Dragon Scimitar but comes with a unique special attack:

• 50% increased accuracy and 50% extra damage on the next hit.

• A successful hit applies a burn effect, dealing an additional 10 damage over 24 seconds.

• Costs 30% special attack energy, allowing for multiple consecutive uses.

This weapon excels against high-HP, low-defense monsters, making it an excellent Slayer tool.

Dungeon Highlights:

• Custodian Stalker: A powerful new monster that drops an intermediate-tier defender, bridging the gap between the Rune and Dragon Defender.

• Final Nagwa Creature: The last addition to the Nagwa family, dropping a unique stab-based weapon that deals damage in two hit splats, similar to other Nagwa weapons.

New Endgame Boss: Yama

OSRS is introducing another endgame boss, Yama, located inside the Chasm of Fire. This will be a duo boss, requiring two players to take it down. Jagex has teased that the challenge will be comparable to The Inferno at later stages, making it one of the toughest PvM encounters in the game.

Unique Mechanics:

• Contracts: Players can accept harder contracts for greater rewards.

• Awakened Versions: Similar to Desert Treasure II bosses, Yama will have an awakened mode for an extra challenge.

Key Rewards:

• Adrenaline Potion: Grants 25% special attack energy (usable every 5 minutes, requiring 81 Herblore and Demonic Dew drops from Yama).

• Abyssal Worms: Dramatically increase anglerfish catching efficiency.

• Soul Armor: Comparable to Torva, but with 7 less Strength Bonus in exchange for 30 higher Slash accuracy.

• Soul Flame Horn: A special off-hand item that boosts the melee accuracy of all nearby allies by 100% for their next attack.

The Chasm of Fire will also be updated with a new mining activity, where players can mine ore needed to craft the new Soul Armor. This ensures that both skilling and PvM players will benefit from the update.

Sailing: Public Alpha Testing & First Quest

Sailing is finally making its way to OSRS, with public alpha testing opening this year. Players will also get their first Sailing quest, Pandemonium, which will introduce a brand-new island.

Completing the quest grants the Captain's Log, which allows players to:

• Track ship-related tasks.

• Manage crew and supplies.

• Unlock additional Sailing features as they level up.

At level 10 Sailing, players will receive their boat, marking the beginning of a brand-new skill in OSRS history.

Final Thoughts

OSRS in 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years yet, with incredible updates across the board. Whether you're into high-risk PvM, AFK combat training, innovative skilling methods, or brand-new Sailing skills, there's something for everyone.

As more details emerge, RSorder will be covering them extensively, so be sure to stay tuned for further updates!
