The 2025 Old School RuneScape Halloween Event is here, and it’s time to dive into another round of seasonal spookiness! In this guide, every step of this year’s Halloween quest — from starting to collecting decorations, visiting Death, and earning your rewards.

Getting Started

This year’s event begins just north of Lumbridge, where you’ll find our old pal Fred the Farmer. You don’t need any fancy gear or high stats — it’s one of the most accessible events we’ve had in a while.

Recommended Items:

• Lumbridge, Falador, or Draynor Village teleport

• Explorer’s Ring (for quick access to Draynor patch)

• Amulet of Glory (optional but handy)

• Stamina potion (if you want to run non-stop)

Once you’re prepped, talk to Fred the Farmer to start the event. The storyline this year revolves around — you guessed it — decorations! We’ve had similar setups in the past, but it’s still a fun, lighthearted seasonal quest.

Step 1: Visit Seth at the Dairy Churn

After chatting with Fred, head east and then north to find Seth, the local dairy worker. Go through the gates and doors until you reach him, then talk to him to receive your Spooky Picture. Make sure it’s in your inventory — it’s required later.

If you didn’t get the picture, you may have spoken to the wrong NPC, so double-check that you’re talking to Seth Goat.

Step 2: Talk to Sarah at the Draynor Farming Patch

Next, teleport (or run) to Draynor Village. You’ll need to find Sarah, who’s tending the farming patch nearby. Talk to her to continue the Halloween quest — and yes, you’ll have to perform an emote for the cows.

That’s right. Get ready to dance for the undead bovines. It’s one of the funniest parts of the whole event. After busting your moves, you’ll receive the Spooky Scarecrow. Keep this in your inventory!

Step 3: Steal a Spooky Chair from Draynor Manor

From the farming patch, make your way to Draynor Manor — you can use a teleport or just run there. Once inside, you’ll find floating chairs in the mansion. Pick one up to obtain the Spooky Chair.

At this point, you should have three decorations:

1. Spooky Picture

2. Spooky Scarecrow

3. Spooky Chair

Step 4: Visit Death’s Office

Now it’s time to meet the big man himself — Death. You’ll find the entrance to Death’s Domain just south of the Lumbridge graveyard. Enter the area and speak to Death to continue the event.

When answering his dialogue questions, choose the following options:

1. Option 3: 31st of October

2. Option 1: Pumpkins

3. Option 2: Coven

4. Option 3: Dark Wizards

5. Option 1: Trick-or-Treat

After you’ve finished speaking with Death, he’ll tell you to return to Fred the Farmer.

Step 5: Back to Fred the Farmer

Teleport back to Lumbridge and speak to Fred again. He’ll say something’s missing — and that’s your cue to head to Diango in Draynor Village.

Step 6: Visit Diango for the Final Touch

Talk to Diango (yes, the Halloween mofo himself) while wearing three Halloween items. If you don’t have any, you can withdraw old holiday gear from the Holiday Items section of your bank.

Equip three Halloween-themed items, speak to Diango again, and he’ll reward you with the Spooky Pumpkin Lantern. Once you’ve got it, return to Fred one final time.

Step 7: Complete the Event!

Make sure you’re:

• Wearing at least three Halloween items

• Holding the Spooky Lantern

Then, talk to Fred to trigger the ending cutscene. You’ll see Death visit, the decorations come to life, and your character proudly displays their spooky style.

Rewards:

• Spooky Pumpkin Lantern

• Spooky Chair (with cool follow animation!)

• Grim Top, Bottom, and Gloves

• Halloween Mask Set

• Two Pumpkins

• Plus, last year’s missed Halloween items if you skipped 2024’s event!

If you haven’t done it yet, it’s absolutely worth 10 minutes of your time — and make sure you equip your lantern and wear three Halloween items before the final step!
